Cut and paste isn’t always as easy as it seems.
The main issue is sourcing the right subjects to be cut up and pasted into a new environment where everything feels right for the project. I’ve often spent hours searching for ideas online looking for whatever hasn’t been tapped into already.
Nine inch nails springs to mind….I am just a copy of a copy of a copy. Mmm..pause for thought.

Lucky for me I was rummaging through a bunch of old vintage magazines and music books and a picture of Audrey Hepburn had survived on the cover relatively clean and undamaged so I put it to one side for future use knowing that it’s one of the most widely popular pics of her already.
Weeks passed by and I came across this vintage old magazine pic of an airport in neon so I simply put Audrey into the new environment. To be honest you couldn’t call this a collage at all. This is just a new spin of something old but my intuition said to me at the time that it worked so I took the easy way out and stuck them together with a glue stick. This had to be one of the easiest works I had ever made but finding these pieces happened by chance on different occasions. The moral of this post is that good things can fall into place when you surrender to the universe and let things happen when they are supposed to.
