What’s the best way to build self-confidence?

I have never painted an ocean and this one in the background of the painting was my first attempt. Surprisingly it came out ok as I enjoyed the experience and I didn’t get it right until many layers of paint and different brush techniques later and a palette knife. This is just self confidence around the subject of painting.
