A few concept posters by Krisden Gekko & Studio tour

The beauty of concept art is the freedom to explore new avenues creating pictures that tell a story.

I love to put new spins on old or existing themes but also creating entirely new ones fresh from imagination.

Sirens concepts art poster.

The bond girl meets the 1 million years  BC girl. This one’s just about the girls and they are over glamorised and why not as they deserve it. Pictures show on this one the finished piece and the earlier development.  I paint in stages and layers and it’s time consuming. This poster took 65 hrs to create from scratch. I used just a couple of existing reference photos that I found on line and then decided to create a whole new spin by combining them both in a new environment. Let’s face it, the films were ok but without the girls the films would never have had the impact that they made at the time.

My inspiration comes from old movie posters from the 1980s as back in those days the posters were mostly hand painted and told a story. Nowadays they are just digital covers with the actors and lack the feeling and atmosphere to stimulate ones imagination.

My studio is chaos. Just a small conservatory but I like the word studio as it glamorises the mess.

I will tidy it up later
Now there’s more mess
This will take a long time to clean up

I work with Acrylic paints, spray paints, mixed media, Airbrush, gouasche, palette knife, brush, tube paints , canvas, papers and my philosophy is for myself that if the studio is tidy and clean as well as being well organised then I’ve then been lazy and non inspired in my projects. What’s important to me is the finished result of each piece and constant steps of improving and stepping up my passion. Cleaning up can wait a bit longer. I need to go out and buy some rubbish bags.
